So we had the opportunity to be invited to Victoria, Canada to join Dave and Jan on the Hokulele, their 50' trawler. We flew up and joined them in the Port Sidney Marina, and set off for the adventure. Dave was such a great Captain and Jan the best first Mate I have ever known. We travelled to a number of their secret spots and little villages, jumped on the tender when a dockside tie up was not possible and had such an amazing time. We kayaked, hiked, took bus tours, and just had an epic time At one of the ports after we had a one or two too many, the discussion of gummies came up and I happened to notice that nearby (up the dock) there was a legalized cannabis store (yay Canada), so Dave and I told Emily and Jan that we would go up and make some purchases. Well after about 45 minutes we came back to the boat, and explained in great details that we encountered the local police, who carried guns and they confiscated the goods from us, and were going to arrest us... and of course, we had to pay them off in order to be released, and the story went on and on, and it wasn't until Dave started talking about the hookers who were also detained that our wives started to question to reality of the story... we had such a great laugh, and explained that we actually came through with the purchase... I think about time and again about Dave's GAME-ON attitude and have the fondest memories. The remained of the trawler trip was a blast, and it will be an adventure Emily and I will always remember fondly. Here are some pictures of the trip... and a weird but fun highlight for me was meeting Raffi at the Saltspring Island outdoor market selling his own dvd's... We rented scooters and cruised the island... and even found a beer brewery and lavender distillery... We love you Dave, you old salty dog and Jan, you are such an awesome Partner!
