Ann and I were lucky enough to be on a camping trip with Dave and Jan in the summer of 2023 and we went to Grand Targhee in Idaho. I’d been promising to get Dave out for some flyfishing to catch some trout and get him going on a new hobby that included a flyrod. I’ve been fishing for years and Jan was all over me to get DB going, so I was more than happy to oblige. Well, here he is with proof that he did catch a fish (it was a Rocky Mountain whitefish, not a trout) and I was standing there next to him as he landed it. I’ve seen David smile a lot from drinking a smooth rum or sinking a long putt but catching that first “trout “ on his flyrod was something I’m glad I got to see. He was delighted and I’m glad I got to share in his experience. David has as fine a heart as any man around. I already miss him and wish he was still around to be my fishing buddy.
